DJ Ella Balagula
Based in San Francisco, Ella is an active social dancer and tango DJ whose musical approach is firmly rooted in the Golden Age. Her sets combine elegance and playfulness with a touch of feminine sparkle. She strives to create an atmosphere that feels inviting and connected.
Guided by the energy of the room, Ella uses musical storytelling to shape the mood and flow through her irresistably danceable tandas . Nothing makes her happier than seeing dancers lose themselves in the music and leave the floor with a smile.
DJ Andrew Brown
Andrew started dancing tango after moving from London to Seattle in 1997 and began to DJ soon after. "I was fascinated by the rhythms, complexity and romance of the music of the Golden Age'. Since then Andrew has continually refined his craft and delighted dancers at milongas, festivals and encuentros across the US, the U.K. and Europe.
DJ Bill Raymond
Bill is excited to be returning to the Pioneer this year. His goal as a DJ is to be in the background choosing songs to suit the mood in the room . He plays the music to take people away from their everyday lives and lure them out to dance again. He wants everyone to be delighted to seize the moment and slip back into the ronda. From the first note that they hear at the beginning of the tanda to the end when they have both lost count of the songs... he is planning where to take them next. He is based in SLC, UT and has played throughout the US West and recently has branched out to play in Portugal and Italy.
DJ John Miller
John has been DJing for over half his life, playing more than 1500 events across nearly every imaginable setting: seedy bars and warehouses, churches and beaches, weddings and funerals, high school sock-hops and wild house parties, beneath bridges, from century-old victrolas, and at dozens of festivals. John is based in Denver, CO and runs the Tango on the Rocks Festival.
DJ Paul Akmajian
Paul has been dancing Argentine tango for more than 25 years and DJing for 20+ years. In addition to being a regular DJ in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, Paul has DJ’d nationally and internationally at numerous festivals, marathons, and encuentros across the US and beyond. As a DJ, Paul strives to keep everyone energized and dancing long into the night by playing the highest-quality, most familiar, time-tested, and dancer-approved music from Tango’s Golden Age.
