Vincent Lam

Vincent Lam from Vancouver, Canada has been dancing tango for fifteen years and spinning tunes both digital and vinyl records in the Pacific Northwest and at Encuentros, Marathons & Festivals throughout North America, Sweden and Japan for the past eight years. Vincent favors traditional tangos, mixing his tunes with a sense of fun and romance. Vincent enjoys photography and travel, but of course, all revolving around tango.

Yatma Diallo

Milan, Italy

Born in Senegal, Yatma Diallo has lived in Italy for over twenty years. He has distinguished himself in tango dance competitions both in Italy and Argentina. Together with Monica Maria, he is engaged in dance instruction in Milan and conducts workshops in tango communities in Italy, Europe, the USA, and Africa. As a Tango DJ, Yatma is known as El Africano Bien milonguero. He has professional training as a sound engineer and can DJ with vinyl records. He has taught and DJ’d at numerous tango and milonguero events in Italy, Turkey, Netherlands, Slovenia, Greece, Latvia, Guadeloupe, and the USA. 

Bill “Snap” Raymond

Salt Lake City, Utah

From under the cherry blossoms at the Utah Capitol to formal milongas in Arizona, Montana, Idaho, and California, Bill has played at a wide variety of tango events. He searches for the best quality transfers, including imports from BA tango music clubs and European sources. He varies what he plays to match the mood of the dancers and concentrates on playing music with excellent clarity from the late 30s to the early 50s.Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Martin Rybczynski

Denver, Colorado

Known for his extensive collection of music, Martin likes to drive the milonga experience to its peak and subsequent release, drawing from a wide variety of Golden Age classics. He carefully considers the emotional impact of the music on the dancers and weaves the mood of the evening with deliberate subtlety. Martin has deejayed at numerous events in Colorado and at Encuentros in Salida and Santa Fe. He has been featured at tango festivals in Denver (Memorial, Labor, Natural Tango, Tango on the Rocks), San Diego, Tucson, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque. Martin also deejayed during his travels, including Philadelphia, Houston, Asheville, and Mumbai, India.

Kimberly Scola

Cleveland, Ohio

We are pleased to welcome Kim back to Pioneer Encuentro. Since studying with Hernán Prieto she has DJ’d for Encanto (Albuquerque), ESO! Tango Marathon (Buffalo), Toronto Tango Experience, (Toronto), Bowling Tango Marathon (Cleveland), Encuentro Milonguero, and Nowruz Milonguero Festival (Ashville), as well as frequently for milongas and smaller events locally in Ithaca, Rochester, and Buffalo, NY; Ann Arbor, MI; Pittsburgh, PA; Washington, DC; Detroit, MI; and Columbus OH. Kim’s style is traditional. She works to connect with the dancers and to create a positive, upbeat environment that also reveals the subtle beauty and diversity of the music.

Sohrab Soltani

San Francisco, CA

Sohrab has agreed to serve as the Pioneer Encuentro backup DJ for 2024. He is also DJ for the community milonga at the Monson Center Thursday evening. Sohrab has taught, organized local Tango events, and DJ’d milongas regularly at tango events and Encuentros across the country. Sohrab prefers tango music from the Golden Age. His enthusiasm is infectious and his goal is to keep the dancers energized throughout the milonga.
